Mint Hill, North Carolina

Junk removal Mint Hill NC — one town cart, a 75-pound pickup cap, and a yard-waste limit past which the town says no service.

Mint Hill is not Charlotte, and it is not Pineville either. The town runs its own residential collection through Waste Pro: one roll-out container, a 75-pound cap per pickup, garbage bagging preferred but not required, and a hard yard-waste ceiling above which the town says no service will be provided. We take requests from Mint Hill and connect you with an independent local hauler. Your hauler will get back to you with a rough quote.

If the town truck is the right truck, use it. Otherwise, text a photo.

How junk removal works in Mint Hill

The town has a truck. The notes below say what it will and will not take.

Mint Hill, North Carolina runs its own solid-waste program. Charlotte's bulky-item rules do not apply here, and neighboring Pineville — also on Waste Pro — publishes the opposite bagging rule. Copying either page with the city name swapped would be a lie. The three notes below are quoted from four Town of Mint Hill pages: garbage collection, items not acceptable, yard waste, and dispose of leaves properly.

We make the referral to a local hauler. Your hauler comes inside and does the lifting. You can send a request for furniture, appliances, mattresses, garage and estate cleanouts, and construction debris. Starting prices live on the published rate card and in the 2026 cost guide.

If you are inside town limits and the item fits the town's weekly cart, set-out, and yard-waste rules, that pickup is the town's. You do not need a private hauler for that job. If the town will not take it, text a photo to (704) 459-5052 or email quotes@704junk.com and we'll pass it along to a local hauler.

What the Town of Mint Hill actually says

Three town facts from four pages: one cart, a named refusal list, and a yard-waste ceiling with the town's own consequence attached.

Town collection — Mint Hill runs its own program, and the contract is one cart. Mint Hill is not on Charlotte's curbside program. The town contracted Waste Pro for residential collection, and the limits on that page are the town's. The town writes: “Pick up is provided once a week and contracted for a maximum of 1 roll-out container (provided by the town).” That is one container on a weekly pickup. It is not two carts, and it is not an on-demand truck.

A separate rule on the same page is weight and set-out time. The town puts it this way: “Garbage and yard waste should be placed at the curb by 7:00 am and weigh no more than 75 pounds per pickup.” Seventy-five pounds is the cap per pickup, for garbage and yard waste placed at the curb. It is not 75 pounds per container.

How the garbage sits in that one cart, in the town's words: “Garbage only should be placed in the roll-out containers.” Yard waste is a different stream. Bagging garbage is a preference, not a condition of pickup. The town writes: “For a more sanitary service, garbage should be bagged, but not required.”

Appliances are not the weekly cart. The town writes: “Appliances (stoves, refrigerators, washers, and dryers) will be picked up if prearranged by contacting Waste Pro.” That is a scheduled pickup with the town's contractor. This page names the mechanism and does not print that contractor's phone number. If the item is ordinary town collection, use the town. If it will not fit those rules, a private hauler is another route.

Quoted from the Town of Mint Hill, Garbage Collection: Garbage Collection (minthill.com), fetched September 18, 2026, HTTP 200. This is a town collection rule. It is not a hauler's price, not a City of Charlotte curbside rule, and not a Mecklenburg County drop-off fee. Checked September 2026.

What the town truck will not take — a named refusal list, not a volume limit. Mint Hill's collection is not a catch-all. On a separate page from the weekly-cart rules, the town lists materials the truck will not pick up. The first named category is a landfill gate, not a cue to toss whatever is in doubt. The town writes: “Any material not acceptable at the landfill”

Household leftovers sit on that list as named items, not as overflow. The town names: “Partially filled paint cans”. The same town list includes: “Rubber tires”. Neither is a size or weight exception you talk your way around on pickup day.

Yard leftovers the garbage truck will not take as trash: the town writes: “Tree stumps or logs”. Construction leftovers are the same class of refusal. The town writes: “Building materials”. The printed list also names batteries, carpet, oil or other petroleum products, and wood blocks. That is the town's list, reported straight.

You can send a request for building materials and construction debris, carpet, or rubber tires. See construction debris removal. Furniture, appliances and mattresses are not on this list. The town says on the garbage page above that appliances are picked up if prearranged with its contractor; if that is the job, that is the truck to call.

Quoted from the Town of Mint Hill, Items Not Acceptable: Items Not Acceptable (minthill.com), fetched September 18, 2026, HTTP 200. This is a town refusal list. It is not a City of Charlotte curbside rule, and not a Mecklenburg County drop-off fee. Checked September 2026.

The yard-waste ceiling — and what the town says happens above it. Mint Hill publishes an exact, measurable limit for limbs and brush, then states the consequence in its own words. First, that stream is not mixed into the garbage cart. The town writes: “Limbs and brush should be separated from other waste.”

Piece size is a separate rule from pile size. Mint Hill puts it this way: “These should be left not more than five feet in length and not over six inches in diameter.” These is the limbs and brush just named, not bagged leaves and not the pile as a whole.

How much of that separated brush may sit at the curb is a third rule — one pile, with dimensions, once a week. The town writes: “Never place more than one pile of limbs or brush, approximately four feet high by four feet wide and five feet in length, at the curb each week.”

Then the town states the consequence, without a hedge: “If yard waste exceeds these specifications, no service will be provided.” That is the town's rule. Some readers will cut the brush smaller and stay on the town truck, and that is a correct outcome. If the pile is past those specifications and staying that way, the town has said it will not come. A private hauler is one remaining option, and for pieces the county will take, hauling it yourself to a county facility is another. The town's leaves page adds a per-container limit: “Limit the weight of bags and trash cans to 50 pounds each”.

Quoted from the Town of Mint Hill, Yard Waste: Yard Waste (minthill.com), fetched September 18, 2026, HTTP 200; and Dispose of Leaves Properly: Dispose of Leaves Properly (minthill.com), fetched September 23, 2026, HTTP 200. This is a town yard-waste rule. It is not a hauler's price, not a City of Charlotte curbside rule, and not a Mecklenburg County drop-off fee. Checked September 2026.

Mint Hill junk removal FAQ

What Mint Hill residents ask before they hire a hauler, including when the town's own pickup is the route.

Can I send a junk-removal request from Mint Hill NC?

Yes. We take requests from Mint Hill and connect you with a local hauler. You can send a request for furniture, appliances, mattresses, construction debris, or a cleanout.

How many carts does Mint Hill provide, and does garbage have to be bagged?

The town contracts for a maximum of one roll-out container, provided by the town, with pickup once a week. Bagging garbage is preferred for a more sanitary service, but the town says it is not required. Those are two rules on the Town of Mint Hill garbage page.

What will the town truck not pick up in Mint Hill?

The town publishes a named list of what it will not collect: any material not acceptable at the landfill, batteries, building materials, carpet, oil or other petroleum products, partially filled paint cans, rubber tires, tree stumps or logs, and wood blocks. That is a category refusal, not a volume limit. If the item is on it, the weekly truck will not take it.

What happens if my yard-waste pile is larger than the town allows?

The town's own words: if yard waste exceeds the published specifications, no service will be provided. Limbs and brush have to be separated, cut to length and diameter, and limited to one pile of about four by four by five feet at the curb each week. Some people will cut the pile down and stay on the town truck. That is a correct outcome. If the pile stays over the ceiling, the town has said it will not come.
